What is Pashmina?

• There is much confusion as to exactly what the term Pashmina actually means. As it is commonly used today, it refers to both the Cashmere fabric as well as the shawl garments made from this fabric. Pashmina, also known as Cashmere, is the soft wool from the underbelly of the Himalayan Mountain Goat. As found in Wikipedia encyclopedia, Pashm, (pashmina) from the Persian word for "wool", refers to the underfur of certain Tibetan animals, particularly goats, commonly used for the making of shawls.

• Pashmina is among the softest and warmest natural fibers in the world. Pashmina shawls are frequently made with a blend of Cashmere and silk, with the percentages ranging anywhere from 50/50 to 90/10. We sell only 90/10 two ply pashmina shawls, and are proud to sell only this highest quality. Pashmina shawls are also made from Viscose rayon, which is a synthetic fabric, but are also soft and have a luxurious feel at a more affordable price.
